Aaron Ramsey inches closer to Premier League return; Arsenal & Newcastle mooted as potential destinations

Ramsey maneuvers for January move from Juventus

Aaron Ramsey could be on his way out of the door at the Allianz stadium in January after current club Juventus have said they have no interest in offering a contract extension in Turin.

That news from by way of Goal correspondent Romeo Agresti, who tweeted earlier that the representatives of Ramsey met with the club to try to iron out a plan for the Welsh international to depart the club this winter.

That came in the wake of Juventus confirming that an extension of his terms with the Old Lady is not something that the club's hierarchy was prepared to push for.

The 30-year-old former Arsenal cult favorite had little resounding impact on the club since his arrival in the summer of 2019, making 70-appearances for the club in two-and-a-half years and only scoring 6-goals while adding 6-assists. Given his wage packet at Juventus, it should come as no surprise that they are prepared to part ways with Ramsey as soon as possible.

Arsenal & Newcastle mooted as possible destinations

A return to Arsenal would not be off the cards for Aaron Ramsey, at least according to former teammate Theo Walcott after Football.London reported that the fellow former Gunner felt Ramsey would be keen on a return to the Emirates where he enjoyed the best spell of his career.

Previous reports also linked Ramsey with interest in PIF-owned Newcastle in the wake of the club's financial takeover in which they are eventually expected to add quality into the first-team under new boss Eddie Howe.

Given the reality that Newcastle is now one of the richest clubs in the world, it was reported that the Magpies would not shy away from his wage demands which would likely be substantial.

After a failed move to Serie A, it would make plenty of sense for Aaron Ramsey to return to what he knows and where he garnered considerable success, but whether or not Arsenal or Newcastle will want to take the chance on him remains to be seen.
