Luis Diaz with Porto
The January transfer window is less than a month away, and Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has reportedly set his sights on one key player to bring to Anfield and that man is Luis Diaz.
The Colombian winger has enjoyed a stunning campaign so far for Porto, and his performances have caught the eye throughout European football, with Klopp having been particularly impressed.
According to reports in Portugal, Klopp is considering a move for Diaz in January, and Porto are said to be willing to accept a bid lower than his 80 million euro release clause.
Meanwhile, exitement is building among fans and media associated with the club as to the possible signing of the Colombian.
On form in Portugal
The 24-year-old has lit up the Primeira Liga in the first half of this season with a number of standout displays. He has already scored 10 times and registered two assists in the Portuguese top flight this campaign.
In fact, Klopp has had a closer look at the winger as Liverpool have faced Porto twice in the Champions League.
Although Liverpool cruised to victory in both matches, winning 5-1 in Portugal followed by a 2-0 victory at the end of November, that has done little to change Klopp's opinion about him.
Forward planning
His signing in January would be excellent news for The Reds, as it would help to fill the goalscoring void left behind by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah when the pair depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Looking to the future, Mane and Salah are both 29 years old, and Liverpool are already in the process of starting to look at the regeneration of their squad.
As a result, Klopp is a huge admirer of Diaz, who is an outstanding prospect set to play a key role at the summit of European football for many seasons to come.
