Belgian second tier side KVC Westerlo have launched an audacious bid to sign Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard, but their Sporting Director Hasan Cetinkaya may hold the key to the 30-year-old

Eden Hazard's spell at Real Madrid hasn't exactly gone how either side were hoping it would turn out.

The Belgian, who displayed his mercurial talent weekly for Chelsea, has looked a shell of his former self after becoming Los Blancos' latest galactico.

But Belgian second-tier side KVC Westerlo have thrown their hat in the ring with an audacious attempt to bring Hazard back to Belgium.

At the heart of the rumour is Hasan Cetinkaya, who currently serves as KVC Westerlo's sporting director.

Cetinkaya first met Hazard when he was a youngster at Lille, not too far from the Flemish border.

Cetinkaya told Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad: "I think I can consider Eden Hazard a friend, as I first met him when he was at Lille.

"He promised me that one day he would play for Fenerbahçe.

"To get him to come to KVC Westerlo would be more difficult, but you never know. He might come and finish his career here."

However, Westerlo may be in the Belgian Pro League before too long: Westerlo are currently top of the second tier by ten points after just 13 games.

While, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has recently expressed his 'sadness' at Hazard's current situation.

He said: Martinez said: "He is sad in football terms, this is the first time that he is experiencing this situation.

"He is a player who has always led winning projects and now he doesn’t have that role.

"But he is a footballer of exceptional talent and that is never lost, you have to have faith in him."

Hazard has made 11 appearances for Real Madrid this season, but he has yet to find the net.

And reports from Spain over the summer suggested Real were ready to cut their losses on the 30-year-old.
