Sterling's future speculated on
The subject of Raheem Sterling's future has been rampant in the media of late.
Towards the end of last season, Raheem Sterling fell out of favour at Manchester City and Sterling's reduced role has continued into the 2021/22 season as well.
Across City's last seven league outings, Sterling has completed 90 minutes of action on just two occasions. And, in City's previous 5 PL ties, Sterling had completed 90 minutes just once.
In turn, it had been speculated that Man City were resigned to losing Sterling and had set a price-tag of around £45-50m for the winger.
FC Barcelona were then linked with the Englishman, who was said to be open to a loan move to Catalonia.
Could Arsenal land Raheem Sterling?
Now, as mentioned above, a fresh update on Raheem Sterling's future has been provided.
The update comes courtesy of Ian McGrath of The Transfer Window Podcast.
McGrath states that Sterling's representatives have met with City to confirm that Sterling does not want to continue at the club nor sign a contract extension, adding that the Englishman's camp would prefer to explore the option of a loan deal, potentially in January:
"His representatives have met with Manchester City and are saying their player does not wish to continue or indeed explore an extension on his contract.
"Instead, they would prefer to explore the option of a loan deal, which they would like to begin in the January window."
McGrath adds that Arsenal are one of several interested parties:
"Whether or not that's possible remains to be seen but there are several interested parties, including Arsenal."
