Ahead of being awarded his seventh Ballon d'Or, Lionel Messi arrived at the Paris ceremony wearing matching tuxedos with his three sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro, a decision which had fans in meltdown

Lionel Messi fans could not get enough of his look as he arrived at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in matching sparkly suits with his three sons.

The 36-year-old emerged at the Paris event wearing a bold tuxedo ahead of picking up his seventh award after beating Robert Lewandowski to the prize.

And his children Thiago, Mateo and Ciro were all kitted out just like their Dad, while his wife Antonela sported a golden dress.

The coordination amongst the family was appreciated by many online, while some claimed they could tell Messi was winning the Ballon d'Or because of what he and his sons were wearing.

"Only from the suit Messi is wearing, you know he knows that he has won it," one Twitter user said.

Another added: "Leo Messi and his three sons arriving in matching suits! If this isn't family goals, I don't know what is!

"Messi’s suit is one of the best out of all the ones he’s worn to the Ballon D’or ceremonies. It looks nice af!," was the view of one supporter.

"Messi in the house, What a suit that is," remarked one loyal fan, while another commented: "Messi’s suit looks cold."

The Argentina international added to his successes from 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2019 with another Ballon d'Or award.

He pipped Lewandowski, who looked certain to be last year's winner before it was cancelled and was a top contender again for 2021.

Messi's outfit choices for the Ballon d'Or ceremonies have always caught the eye.

In 2012 he wore a velvet suit, then in 2013 opted for a very brave polka-dot number.

He's since worn both bright red and bright purple three pieces.

His latest attempt has seemed to go down as the greatest, though, with many declaring it his best effort yet.
