Lionel Messi this weekend opened up on a whole host of noteworthy topics during a wide-ranging interview with Marca, including the possibility of sealing a return to FC Barcelona at some point down the line.
PSG switch
The subject of Messi's future of course proved the headline news across a hectic summer transfer window this year.
This came after it became clear, for the first time, that the Argentine's career-long stint on the books at the Camp Nou was in genuine danger of coming to an end.
Messi's terms in Catalunya expired upon the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign, prompting a host of giants from across the continent to express an inevitable interest in his signature.
In turn, despite widespread reports pointing towards progress in negotiations over a renewal, in the end, the Barca-Messi love story was brought to a definitive conclusion early in August:

From here, as expected, the 34-year-old was quickly picked up by French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, linking up with close friend Neymar at the Parc des Princes.
'Love to come back'
As outlined above, though, amid an altogether hit-and-miss start to life in the French capital, this weekend, Messi provided an insight into the possibility of one day making the move back to the club where he made his name.
Speaking in a hitherto unreleased interview with Spanish outlet Marca, in news which will no doubt be met with glee at the Camp Nou, the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner admitted that, in some form or another, he indeed one day hopes to secure a return to Barcelona:
'Obviously, if I can contribute and help Barcelona I would love to come back. I've always said that.'
Also worth taking note of was Messi's insight into life alongside Sergio Ramos, with the pair, who so long battled it out on opposite sides of the Clasico divide in Spain, now teammates in Paris:
'Having Sergio Ramos as a teammate is a spectacle,' he remarked.
When it comes to recent developments back in Catalunya, meanwhile, the 34-year-old was quick to provide his backing to former teammate Xavi Hernandez, assuring that the tactician will go on to enjoy huge success on the Blaugrana bench:
'Xavi will make Barça great again. He knows the club in and out, and knows perfectly what to do. It's a great appointment'
Marca's full interview is expected to be released on Tuesday.
