Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly lost the dressing room as senior players 'agree' that the Norwegian has completed a sackable offence.
Manchester United still remain sixth in the Premier League table, but they are only three points ahead of 13th placed Southampton.
And the Red Devils have been played off the park by bitter rivals Manchester City and Liverpool in recent weeks.
United's Champions League chances also hang in the balance, and the Red Devils relied on Cristiano Ronaldo to drag them to a point against Villarreal.
And Duncan Castle's has revealed to The Transfer Window podcast that senior players 'agree' it's time for a new manager.
"It's actually amazing that he's still in a job, given the results and the nature of the work he has done leading up to those results," Castles said.
"Where there are now very senior members of the Manchester United squad briefing off-record that they feel that the coach has to change.
"They are to achieve what they expect to be able to achieve with the quality of the squad they have gathered there.
"And remember, this is one of only two squads in the history of the game that have cost over €1bn of transfer commitments to put together."
This new report comes just after reports that Ronaldo had 'recommended' Zinedine Zidane to the United hierarchy as a replacement for Solskjaer.
Zidane and Ronaldo linked up to high effect at Real Madrid, and they were their best in Europe.
Together the pair swept up three Champions League's triumphs.
