Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that Roy Keane would win if the two were to fight in a boxing match.

The German was asked who, out of him and the former Manchester United and Ireland midfielder, would win in a boxing match during a fan Q&A on Sky Sports.

Klopp also revealed that he has never punched someone in his life but felt he would have a chance of winning a war of words with Keane.

The Reds manager was speaking ahead of Liverpool's home clash with high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, knowing a win could take them top of the Premier League.

When asked who would win a boxing match between himself and Keane, Klopp responded: “I’m 100 per cent sure Roy Keane. I’ve never punched a person in my life.

“I think if it would be a boxing match it would not be me. With words I would say maybe I have a chance but no.

“Roy, think of the tackles he had during his career, no chance, I could never be that ruthless.”

Klopp was then asked about the pre-fight trash talking and whether he would have the edge over Keane in this department.

“Yeah, that would be cool, when you stand in front of each other," explained Klopp.

“So his face is probably chest height or whatever, that would be the last moment when I probably impressed him and from that moment on he’s the winner.”

Klopp was sent off five times during his playing career, with all five coming in his time with Mainz.

Meanwhile, Keane was given his marching orders 11 times, after being sent off 10 times while playing for Manchester United and once for the Irish national team.

A win over the Seagulls could see the Reds leapfrog leaders Chelsea into first place in the table.
