Jadon Sancho has failed to have an impact at Manchester United following his £73million summer switch from Borussia Dortmund - and has been slammed for his poor form by German media

Jadon Sancho's Manchester United form has been slammed by German media following his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund to try and further his career in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old enjoyed three and a half productive seasons in the Bundesliga with Dortmund after opting to leave Manchester City back in 2017, winning the DFB Cup in his final game for the club.

With his final league stats in Germany including an impressive 38 goal and 51 assists across 104 outings, big things were expected of him at Old Trafford.

In what has turned out to be turbulent season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the form of Sancho has been a worry for supporters, despite Roy Keane calling for patience.

In a dig at Sancho from Sky Germany, he has been referred to as 007, because he has zero goals and zero assists across his seven Premier League appearances for the club.

Ahead of their disastrous clash against Liverpool, which finished five-nil to their bitter rivals, Solskjaer made an optimistic prediction over the future of the forward.

He said: "Well as you say he is English and he's been here, lived in Manchester before, but he's not played in the Premier League until now.

"He's got Champions League experience, great experience with Dortmund but now it is Premier League - the best league in the world and he's come in here, he's going to give us so much in the years to come.

"He is humble, always works hard, he wants to learn, and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop and blossom because he will.

"He's had moments with us that the crowd were really on the edge of their seats. Can he add the next bit? Yes — I am sure and he will do."

Adding: "He's been at the club what, two months. There's been a lot of changes, new players coming to the club – give the kid a break.

"He's still learning his trade, he's still a young player, big expectations.

"He's come to a new club where he's certainly not going to be star man, he'll be down the pecking order and he's got to adapt to all that. Give him a chance."
