Savage football fans have trolled Gary Neville on Twitter after Jamie Carragher uploaded a picture of Arsenal mascot Gunnersauras making his day.

The Sky Sports pundits were both at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night working on the Premier League fixture between the Gunners and Aston Villa.

Carragher posted a selfie of himself smiling with the iconic Gunners mascot to his 1.7million Twitter followers ahead of the match.

Fans were quick to take the opportunity to take a swipe at Carragher's fellow pundit, Neville, with some saying the green dinosaur is a better pundit, while others referenced Sunday's match between Manchester United and Liverpool.

One fan commented on the picture saying: "Gary Neville’s looking worried about Sunday."

Another went along similar lines as they wrote: "Gary’s looking a bit green, obviously worried about Sunday."

A third fan also took the opportunity to troll the former United and England defender as they commented: "I knew after the other night Neville would be green with envy but this is taking the p***."

Another comment took aim at Neville's punditry and read: "He replacing Gary? Probably talks more sense than him."

Following Arsenal's comfortable 3-1 win over Villa on Friday night, the punditry duo now turn their attentions to Sunday's match between United and Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Neville could be forgiven for not being full of confidence heading into the match, with United having won just one of the previous 10 Premier League meetings between the sides.

In addition, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is arguably the most in-form player in the world right now having scored 12 goals in 11 matches so far this season.

Defeat on Sunday would leave United seven points behind their rivals from Merseyside, who can go top with a win at Old Trafford if Chelsea fail to beat Norwich City.
