Beckham - Performing Tai Chi is important for my family's 'mental awareness'AP

Former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England midfielder David Beckham embraced the calming, physical and mental well-being side of Tai Chi, as he took part in a session with Grand Master Tsu and learnt more about the centuries-old Chinese martial art in Singapore on Thursday.

"AIA Singapore have challenged me (David Beckham) to try something new as part of their 90th anniversary celebrations. So, I decided to try Tai Chi, as being mentally active is just as important as being physically active."

"Towards the end of my (football playing) career, maybe the last eight or nine years, I was thinking more on that side. But, in all honesty, these days, I have four kids, so I am constantly talking about their mental awareness, how they are feeling mentally and physically. So that is an important part of this."
