Borussia Dortmund are reported to have made a £15million bid for Man City youngster Liam Delap this summer which the Premier League champions rejected due to Pep Guardiola being a "huge admirer"

Manchester City have reportedly rejected a £15million offer from Borussia Dortmund for teenage sensation Liam Delap.

The Bundesliga giants are said to have been interested in the 18-year-old striker towards the end of the summer transfer window and even to have made an official bid.

Delap, son of Stoke City legend Rory, is highly valued by the Premier League champions who knocked back the bid due to huge potential they see in him.

And Football Insider have revealed that even a £15million package for the teenager, who has only made three appearances and scored one goal for the first team, wasn’t enough to tempt the Citizens.

Dortmund were previously been successful in luring away another young star from City in Jadon Sancho, signing him as a 17-year-old in 2017.

But manager Pep Guardiola is rumoured to be a huge fan of Delap, who scored 24 goals in 20 appearances for the City under-23s to win the Premier League 2 Division One title last season.

The result was that the club decided to tie down the forward last month to a five-year contract running until the summer of 2026.

And with City having been unable to sign Harry Kane due to the large sum demanded by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy this summer, Delap has a clear route into the first-team with the only other out-and-out striker in the squad being Gabriel Jesus.
