Kingsley Coman has undergone minor heart surgery after suffering from shortness of breath, Julian Nagelsmann announced on Friday.
Coman was a late substitute for Leroy Sane in Bayern Munich's win in their Champions League opener against Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
Bayern found the net three times midweek, and the third goal, through Robert Lewandowski, was the only one with Coman on the field.
The 25-year-old has since discovered a small disturbance in his heartbeat, which was affecting his breathing.
Coman has gone under the knife after receiving medical attention on the heart arrhythmia, and Nagelsmann expects him to be out for around two weeks.
Coman underwent heart surgery on a minor issue
"Kingsley Coman underwent surgery yesterday," Nagelsmann told the press ahead of their Bundesliga clash with VFL Bochum.
"His heartbeat rhythm had a slight disturbance with a minor added beat. At times he had a slight shortage of breath.
"That's why we opted for long-term ECG monitoring and went ahead with this procedure.
"He will be doing cardio training again on Tuesday and won't be out of action for any more than one and a half to two weeks."
Coman hasn't been fitted with an ICD like Christian Eriksen was following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
Most arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, are harmless, but if they're particularly abnormal they can be serious.
The procedure isn't unheard of for footballers, and Michael Carrick underwent a similar procedure in 2017 after he was diagnosed with a heart problem.
