PSG's strategy in getting Mbappe to renew

Paris Saint-Germain's last offer to Kylian Mbappe was a net 25 million euros per season and the forward rejected it out of hand, and the position of Leonardo was clear that there was to be no more offers and no more money.

He suggested that, without giving figures, that the offer was at the level of the best players in the world, although many believe this to be completely immaterial with Mbappe likely to sign with Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2022.

Yet, until January 1, when Mbappe can legally talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement, PSG aren't going to give up on getting the forward to put pen to paper on an extension, and these are the strategies they are set to employ.

A new two-season offer

PSG hope to kick the can down the round to a certain extent and MARCA has learned that in October there will be a renewed effort to get Mbappe to sign for two seasons, with a salary that is higher than that previously offered before Leonardo's 'no more'.

Whilst PSG have made two official offers to Mbappe, both of which have been rejected, they have tried to tempt the player for a long time, and they may now choose a shorter deal to try and play on Mbappe's desire to win the Champions League.

Neymar and Messi

A strong friendship unites both Neymar and Lionel Messi, and the Brazilian has made it clear that he would like to continue playing alongside Mbappe for many years.

The presence of Neymar can therefore be an important asset in negotiations for the Parisian club, whilst there is a dream in Paris that Mbappe can form a lethal partnership on the pitch with Messi.

Mbappe, who is currently determined to go to Real Madrid, does like the idea of playing with Messi and Neymar in a trio that are favourites to win the Champions League.

Macron's messages

Politics and football have often been ugly bedfellows and there is a similar feeling about French president, Emmanuel Macron, and his attempted intervention into the Mbappe saga.

On the occasions where he has visited Clairefontaine, the home of the French national team, Macron has made it clear that the forward should remain in Paris because he is a role model for young people.

MARCA can also reveal that these messages haven't only been public either, with Macron having reached out to the player in a personal capacity, and it hasn't been ruled out that he does this again.

The support of the fans

PSG have a boisterous set of fans who attend matches, although they did aim some whistles at Mbappe during the opening Ligue 1 match of this season. However, after the criticism aimed at him following the French failure at Euro 2020, Mbappe's mind may be changed by a year of strong support from the fans.

PSG getting involved with Mbappe's charities

One of the options PSG has is the ability to offer the striker invaluable support for his charitable initiatives. Mbappe remains committed to helping the most disadvantaged children in Paris with his foundation being formed in 2019.

PSG have already helped Neymar set up his own schools in Brazil and Nasser Al-Khelaifi even went as far as travelling to Brazil with Neymar and his father to visit those schools.

An important agreement with Qatar

It is another formula that PSG used to secure Neymar to a new deal. In 2018, the Brazilian became the ambassador of the Qatar National Bank (QNB), one of the sponsors of the club and one of the most powerful financial entities based in Doha.

The main partners of the club right now are Nike and Accor, and Mbappe is one of the most sought-after footballers in the world in terms of marketing, and these opportunities could be key.

Re-establish relations with the Mbappe family

Real Madrid's failed attempts to sign Mbappe have left the forward and his family in a difficult position. Relations with PSG have become somewhat strained, while Leonardo and the player himself are known not to get on.

Al-Khelaifi will be entrusted with the task of bridging the gap between the two parties and try and coax Mbappe's parents into encouraging their son to re-sign with PSG.
