Kroenke family in agreement on Mikel Arteta sacking decision as Arsenal woes continue

Arsenal owners the Kroenke family are in agreement on their sacking decision for Mikel Arteta as his woes continue.

The Spaniard has taken the Gunners to the bottom of the Premier League table, scoring no goals and conceding nine to lose their first three games.

And it has seen calls grow among the fan base for the club's former midfielder and Pep Guardiola's protege to be sacked.

But Goal have reported that the thinking is different in the north London hierarchy.

The American Kroenke family, who became majority shareholders at the club 10 years ago, 'do not want' a change of personnel in the hot seat.

Arteta has been in charge for 21 months, having taken over from Unai Emery who was the successor to iconic manager Arsene Wenger in 2018.

But they do have a limit, with the report stating that they will 'surely run out of patience' if the next matches do not bring results.

After the international break, Arsenal host Norwich and Burnley before their first north London derby against 100 per-centers Tottenham, with a Carabao Cup tie against Wimbledon in-between.

Arteta prepared for the start of the season by spending more than £100m on Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard and Ben White.

But it has not stopped them suffering defeat to promoted side Brentford, London rivals Chelsea and a 5-0 thrashing to champions Manchester City, sparking questions over the 39-year-old's future.

When pushed on the issue by BT Sport after the defeat, Arteta said: "I don't think today is the day to talk about any process.

"We have to talk about the result, what happened on the pitch and that's it.

"I've always said I will be the one [to take responsibility]. I think I've been more critical about myself and taking the blame every single time, but only when we have defeats.

"I stand here today and I do exactly the same thing. I question myself and I have to try and have the right people around me and look at every decision that we make, and that I make to try to improve it and change."
