Fabregas fires warning to Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi has already had his first training session with Paris Saint-Germain, yet his former Barcelona teammate, Cesc Fabregas, has fired a warning to the Argentine with the duo set to be rivals in the Ligue 1 title race this term.

Fabregas signed for Monaco after falling out of favour at Chelsea, and after some stellar punditry work with the BBC, the former Arsenal playmaker is preparing for another season in the principality.

"Certainly, when PSG don't win the league, everyone sees it as a disaster because they've spent a lot of money," Fabregas detailed in an interview with the Daily Mail.

"Everyone sees it as a one-team league, but in the last five years, Monaco and Lille have broken it. It's not as easy as people think, there are very intense, very aggressive teams, with very fast and strong players."

Messi's arrival in Paris merely bolsters their status as Ligue 1 favourites, yet despite his previous warnings, Fabregas is excited for the arrival of the Argentine.

"All the boys are excited, knowing that they are playing against Lionel Messi, everyone wants his shirt," Fabregas added.

"I tell them that there are 25 of us and only one of us and he's only going to have two shirts.

"The team is full of great young talent in Monaco, it will be a fantastic test for them, when the best player comes along they want to show what they can do, we just have the continue without thinking too much about Messi."
