Barcelona set to re-sign Emerson Royal imminently

Barcelona adding Emerson on the cheap

Barcelona have already been very busy this summer, even though the transfer window is yet to officially open.

The Catalan club have confirmed the signing of Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia upon their contract expiry in England this summer. They have also been strongly linked to Gini Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay, also both available on free transfers this window.

Another smart signing, necessitated by Barcelona's financial position, is the return of Emerson Royal. The Brazilian right-back has impressed for Real Betis, but is joint-owned between the two clubs.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have decided to buy the full stake in the player, which was rumoured to have cost them nine million euros.

One in, one out at the Camp Nou

The deal to take Emerson back to Catalonia also involves a return for Juan Miranda to Real Betis. Miranda made 22 appearances in La Liga for Betis last season whilst on loan from Barcelona, and the 21-year-old has impressed to the point that Betis have decided to sign him on a permanent basis.

Barcelona's move for Emerson makes a lot of sense, with it being another cheap deal that will add quality to the squad. Of their current right-back options, Sergino Dest remains young, while Sergio Roberto has flattered to deceive in the past season and could be moved on.

Arsenal have been linked with Emerson in recent weeks, but Mikel Arteta will have to turn his attention elsewhere, with the right-back now seemingly off the market.

For Barcelona, however, the move represents more surprisingly good business.
