It sparked wild celebrations from the players and thousands of fans allowed inside the stadium.

In the dressing room, the squad revelled in their win with footage posted online including an Instagram Live by Wesley Fofana.

The French defender filmed Amartey, who was an unused substitute in the game, grab the Blues pennant and toss it over his shoulder, to loud laughter from his team-mate.

The players also sung and danced along to the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline as the celebrations continued.

Brought down to the pitch for a cup lift of his own was club chairman Top Srivaddhanaprabha, the son of late owner Khun Vichai.

A banner featuring the Foxes hero, who died in a 2018 helicopter crash, adorned a portion of the Wembley seats ahead of the emotional scenes.

Leicester skipper Kasper Schmeichel paid tribute to Vichai after full-time.

He said: "We have a picture on the inside of our shirts so he's always with us.

"This is what we've dreamt of and talked about for so long."

Brendan Rodgers lifted his first trophy in English football and hailed a historic day for Leicester.

The manager told reporters: "I'm very proud. It's a historical day for the football club, winning the FA Cup for the first time in their history, and clearly a special day.

"I'm so happy for the players, they were so courageous in the game. For the supporters, who have lost four finals.

"And for Top and his family, it's a dream of theirs to win the FA Cup and we've been able to deliver that."
