Neymar believes that PSG will invest, and knew nobody could pay his salary

Shut down rumours of a move to Barcelona by signing a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain

Barcelona have been left feeling used by Neymar. Despite their best efforts to convince him to return to the Camp Nou, the Brazilian recently penned a renewal at Paris Saint-Germain that will see him through until 2025.

The Catalans sent representatives to the French capital to talk to their former player, but it now seems as though he was always going to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

UOL have revealed that the main reason for his renewal was that he has complete faith in the club's commitment to investing in the squad as they continue to seek to triumph in the Champions League. Having lost in this season's semi-finals and last year's final, Neymar is happy with the progress they've made.

The other reason is financial. He knows that PSG are one of very few clubs who can afford to pay his 30 million euro salary, something that Barcelona absolutely cannot do.

Neymar and his family were more than satisfied by the offer put on the table, and the player is now hoping that Kylian Mbappe will follow his lead and renew as well.
