Manchester United have been spotted putting barriers up around Old Trafford in a bid to avoid another fan protest when they face Leicester on Tuesday night.

United's clash with Liverpool last Sunday was postponed after supporters broke into the stadium to protest against the Glazers, who sparked outrage by signing them up to the doomed European Super League.

The Glazers have been unpopular figures with Red Devils fans since purchasing the club in 2005, and last month's Super League fiasco has left their relationship at breaking point.

Campaigners warned after last week's protests that more could take place in the future, meaning United have decided to build barriers at Old Trafford.

Pictures have emerged on social media which show trucks outside the stadium and security standing next to barriers, with club officials clearly desperate to avoid another pitch invasion before Tuesday's crunch clash with Leicester.

United are taking no chances after that incident, which turned ugly when fans attacked police officers and caused unrest outside the Lowry Hotel.

Hundreds of supporters found a way into the stadium, getting past security and onto the turf to express their frustration with the club's unpopular owners.

Greater Manchester Police later confirmed that two officers had been injured in the protests, one of whom being 'attacked with a bottle and sustaining a significant slash wound to his face, requiring emergency hospital treatment.

It is believed the intruders forced their way into the stadium through the Munich Tunnel, where they pushed down barriers despite security attempting to thwart them.

And those scenes appear to have convinced United chiefs that stricter security procedures need to be implemented ahead of the visit of Leicester.

Police will almost certainly be present for that game on Tuesday night, as well as the rescheduled fixture against Liverpool on Thursday.

United's last home game of the season comes against Fulham the following Tuesday.
