Tottenham switch attentions to ten Hag following Nagelsmann snub

Reports in the English media on Monday suggest that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has been bumped up the list of candidates to take over at Tottenham.

Amid the widespread turmoil surrounding all matters Super League-related, one story slipped somewhat under the radar in England early last week.

This of course came in the form of Tottenham's decision to part ways with Jose Mourinho.

On the back of yet another damaging pair of points dropped at Everton, the board in north London came to the decision that the Portuguese no longer represented the right man to lead them forward.

In turn, an official statement regarding the matter was released on Monday afternoon:

Mourinho has since been replaced by Ryan Mason, who is set to oversee matters at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Mason's chances of securing the job on a permanent basis, though, look slim.

In turn, ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, Daniel Levy and co. are expected to target another high-profile tactician, to lead a concerted push towards establishing the club as a permanent member of the Premier League's top-4.

To this point, the likes of Brendan Rodgers, Julian Nagelsmann, Steven Gerrard and even ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino have been touted as potential instalments on the bench in north London.

As outlined above, though, on Monday, another tactician has seen his name pushed up the list of candidates to replace Jose Mourinho.

The individual in question? Erik ten Hag.

With the aforementioned Nagelsmann now seemingly on his way to Bayern Munich, Ajax boss ten Hag, as per the Telegraph, is being eyed as a serious option by the Spurs hierarchy.

Ex-RB Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick, meanwhile, is also under consideration.
