Phillips: Real Madrid are top, but we have to treat the Champions League like a normal competition

"Of course Real Madrid is a top club. They've achieved a lot. They've won a lot of trophies and have been playing at a high level and got some top players.
"But you don't notice it when you play against them. At the same time, Liverpool have achieved a lot. So, when you have a game like this, just treat it like a normal game."
"You will play against top players. But for me personally, you have to play every match as if you are the best player you have ever played against so that you can play at your best."
Later, Phillips spoke of the game against Leipzig: "I was relieved after the game. Before the game, I knew I had a chance to start. But I didn't think that I was going to start in order to avoid the disappointment of not being selected.
When Klopp lined up, I knew I was going to start. There was a feeling of excitement. After all, it was the first Champions League game. But I keep reminding myself to stay calm and do my defensive work.
