The breakup of Iker Casillas and Sara Carbonero shook half of Spain after the couple announced their split on social media and the details continue to go viral.

The pair's most famous moment was the kiss after Spain's World Cup win in South Africa and they seem to have ended on good terms.

"The respect, affection and friendship will always be there" wrote Casillas and Carbonero.

They have been demonstrating this with complimentary comments on each other's Instagram pages.

The most viral message of all has been Casillas' comment of "beatutiful" on one of Carbonero's photos, receiving over 1000 likes.

The journalist had already commented on one of Casillas' pictures, in which he appears on a padel court with some friends.

"You all look ready to go..." wrote Carbonero.
