Real Madrid know money won't be all that's needed to sign Mbappe and Haaland

Money is usually a decisive factor when it comes to transfer deals and it's rare for a player to turn down more money elsewhere, but it does happen.

Real Madrid are hoping that an understanding and desire to play for a certain club could help a player to decide to sign for them, as they know that both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe will have better financial offers from elsewhere.

Battling against clubs accused of financial doping makes it almost impossible to provide a better offer, but they know they have the emotional edge.

Real Madrid's directors want to sign a superstar and know that these two players can end the dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both players are receiving offers for outrageous fees, with Haaland the latest though Dortmund have not put a price tag on his head yet.

The day that they do, the Norwegian will know that the door is open and it's time to move on.

Both are young, but completely different cases.

Mbappe negotiated with Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 and since then, he's known that the club is waiting for him and nothing has changed.

The striker has doubts about staying in Paris because he knows that he won't have the leadership role he wants, with Neymar there already and rumours linking Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

Mbappe is holding back from accepting the millions offered by the Qatari royal family to renew his contract, which only has one year left to run.

The player and PSG directors know that a player like him can't be under pressure in the final year of his contract and so he will renew his deal or be sold.

That's known in Paris, and also in Madrid, or in Valdebebas to be more specific.

Haaland's situation is very different, as only one year and three months have passed since he arrived in Germany for 20 million euros and he's already worth six or seven times that.

His move to Dortmund was seen as a stepping stone, but his progress has been quicker than expected and the plan to sell him in 2022 may now change.

Real Madrid believe that Haaland has expressed a desire to one day play for them, but they would first have to negotiate with Dortmund.

In favour of Los Blancos is Mino Raiola, the striker's agent, who knows what it's like to bring big players to the Spanish capital.
