Manchester United are apparently looking at Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
Manchester United have identified Real Madrid's Federico Valverde as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, reports suggest. Pogba's future is still up in the air, and Valverde is apparently being lined up.
Pogba continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
The Frenchman is out of contract in just over a year, with United having extended his current deal by an extra year.
If United don't sell him this summer or convince him to sign a new deal, he'll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement and leave next summer.
With that in mind, United are starting to look for replacements just in case they are unable to convince the central midfielder to sign a new deal.

And Real Madrid star Valverde is apparently being looked at ahead of a potential bid in the summer.
The Uruguay International, 22, has been watched by United scouts on numerous occasions, the Sun claims.
Valverde still has another four years to run on his current deal, meaning Madrid have no reason to sell him any time soon.
Be also has a whopping £146million release clause, so United will have to make a significant bid in order to tempt Madrid into selling.
Pogba's agent Mino Raiola recently stirred the pot again by hinting he can't comment on the midfielder's future without upsetting the club.
He said: "I can’t speak about Pogba because people are nervous, they don’t sleep at night.
"I have to work quietly… If I speak, someone gets offended.
"Pogba must also be left alone.

"I will do what I have to do not in front of you, but in the shadows, as I have always done."
Valverde currently earns a reported £120,000 per-week, and it has been claimed that United would opt to give him a significant pay rise.
Should Pogba depart, United would save £290,000-per-week that they currently pay the Frenchman.
They aren't willing to go anywhere near Valverde's release clause, The Sun claims, but could tempt him into forcing a move if they promised to increase his salary.
