Liverpool are interested in the signing of Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach but there are also a number of teams linked with the midfielder.

Liverpool are one of several clubs looking to sign Zakaria in the summer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Switzerland international suffered a serious knee injury in March last year and returned to action in November.

Despite his fitness woes, the 24-year-old has been commended for his quality in a position Liverpool are looking to improve.

The Reds have potential problems in midfield, with Georginio Wijnaldum's contract set to expire in the summer.

The Dutchman has yet to agree terms with the club and is set to depart when the season comes to an end.

There are also issues with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri - who have struggled with injuries.

Zakaria would provide an ample solution for Jurgen Klopp, with Gladbach potentially looking to sell him in the summer.

His contract expires in June 2022 and the Bundesliga outfit are open to a sale to prevent him leaving for nothing.

According to Sport BILD, Gladbach are preparing for his departure by making plans to sign a replacement.

That is good news for Liverpool, who are ready to ramp up their efforts to sign the ex-Young Boys star.

However, Sport BILD also report that the Reds are now the only ones looking to sign the midfielder.

Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on the Gladbach star, as well as Atletico Madrid.
