Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz was allegedly filmed himself driving and singing into a camera while holding his phone in the same hand as the steering wheel, leading to a police investigation
Police have started an investigation into Aston Villa start Douglas Luiz amid claims he broke driving laws.
The Brazilian was seen in footage singing and appearing to hold a mobile phone while driving.
Villa’s No.6 reportedly looks at the camera several times while apparently holding the device in the same hand he is controlling the steering wheel with.
Sharing the footage on his Instagram account to his 343,000 followers on Sunday morning, it was deleted by lunchtime.
A member of the public then alerted West Midlands Police to the video - and they are now investigating it.
A spokesperson told BirminghamLive: “We have received the footage from a member of the public who uploaded it to our third party reporting portal online.

When the footage was shared on Instagram, fans were less than impressed with Luiz’s alleged actions.
"We love you Doug but get that phone outta ya hand,” one viewer said.
Another commented: "Love ya but put the f***ing phone down ."

While a third laid into the midfielder, with: “Pretty bad example to be setting to all the young villains driving, holding your phone.”
And a fourth added: “On your phone.... then posting it online. Bad idea…”
With a fifth writing: “This is bad. A video of him driving holding onto his phone. How many points is that?”

The Brazilian arrived at Villa Park in 2019 from Premier League giants Manchester City for £15million, where he made no appearances in two seasons.
Making 46 appearances to date, the 22-year-old has scored three goals which all came last season.
He is not the first Villa player to get in trouble, though, as captain Jack Grealish was banned from driving last month following a crash in March.
