Romelu Lukaku spent two years at Manchester United earlier in his career and has since been linked with a move to Manchester City.

Romelu Lukaku has no intention of leaving Inter Milan for Manchester City, Express Sport understands. The Belgium international spent two years at Manchester United between 2017 and 2019 before quitting for the San Siro. And he’s loving life in Italy having flourished under Antonio Conte so far.

Lukaku first moved to England with Chelsea back in 2011, when Andre Villas-Boas ruled the Stamford Bridge roost.

He was never given many opportunities during his time in west London, however, and left for Everton in 2014 after positive loans spells at Goodison Park and West Bromwich Albion.

In 2017, United paid a huge £75million to sign the Belgium international - with Jose Mourinho believing he’d be the key to Premier League title glory.

It was viewed as a significant coup by the Red Devils, who beat Conte’s Chelsea in order to secure the striker’s signature.

Ultimately, at Old Trafford, things didn’t go entirely to plan.

Lukaku scored 28 goals in his first full season at the Theatre of Dreams but managed to find the net just 15 times from 45 games in the 2018/2019 season.

In the end, he was sold by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who preferred the flexibility of other forwards Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Lukaku has spent the last 18 months at Inter, showing himself to be one of Europe’s deadliest strikers throughout his time at the San Siro so far.

He scored 34 goals from 51 matches last term and, this season has plundered home 17 from 22 games.

As a result, talk of a move back to the Premier League with City has been rife.

Pep Guardiola has reportedly earmarked the Belgian as a priority target, with Sergio Aguero likely to depart the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer at the end of the season.

But after speaking to Lukaku’s representatives, Express Sport understands the 27-year-old has no interest in leaving Inter.

The rumours regarding a potential move to City have been described as ‘fantasy news’ and he’s loving life under Conte’s side, who are currently flying high.

Inter currently sit second in the Serie A table, three points behind fierce rivals AC Milan and seven clear of reigning champions Juventus.

Lukaku is a vital asset for Conte, who was furious when he missed out on the former Everton star at Chelsea.

And City may have to look elsewhere if they’re to sign a replacement for Aguero at the end of the campaign.

Lukaku was recently praised for his sensational form by Inter team-mate Nicolo Barella, who described him as a ‘force of nature’.

"Lukaku and Shaquille O’Neal make physical power their greatest strength.

"But Romelu is also so much more. Even in training, we need two or three players to stop him. He’s a force of nature.”

Lukaku previously opened up on his move away from United, saying: “I made my decision around March, and I went to the manager’s office and told him it was time for me to find something else.

"I wasn’t performing and I wasn’t playing. I think it was better for both sides to go separate ways. I think I made the right decision.

"Manchester United has made space for the younger players to come through so I think it was a win-win situation for both of us.

"I think I had to rediscover myself. Last year was difficult for me on the professional side, because stuff was not going how I wanted and I was not performing as well.

"So I had to find it within myself what was lacking and came to the conclusion that it was time for me to change environment.”
