Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is under pressure at Stamford Bridge following a run of poor results and the lack of impact from his summer signings in the Premier League

Frank Lampard’s job at Chelsea is reportedly safe as it stands, though that could change should the Blues look out of the running for next season’s Champions League.

Lampard is under pressure following a run of poor results with his summer signings having made little impact this season.

Chelsea have just one win in their last six Premier League games and were outclassed by Manchester City at the weekend.

They currently sit ninth in the Premier League, three points off fourth-placed Tottenham.

The likes of Thomas Tuchel, Massimiliano Allegri and Andriy Shevchenko have all been linked as potential replacements for Lampard.

Though journalist Gabriele Marcotti has revealed that the former Blues midfielder is currently safe at Stamford Bridge with the Chelsea board having faith that results can be turned around.

Marcotti adds that it could change should the turnaround not happen and the Blues start to look unlikely to make the top four.

Should Chelsea not finish in the Champions League places, then the end could be nigh for Lampard.

Though he remains confident the turnaround can be made: "I’m not concerned on that point [about the sack].

"I expected periods of difficulty this year, I said it when we beat Leeds and everyone was championing us to be title contenders – I know that it doesn’t come that easy, I know where we’re at.

"Whether it puts pressure on me is regardless. Because a month ago everyone was asking when I’d sign a new contract, and now people will be saying different things because in quick succession, over a tight, busy period, we’ve lost four games of football.

"So the pressure remains constant in this job and you know in tough moments that will be there. I didn’t get into this job being unaware of that.

"My job is to keep working, my job is to try and lift the players who would have felt that in the first half, they would have felt the differences of City and their receiving of the ball and their individual ability to take the ball in tight areas.

"We’re fighting to try and match those levels and I know it takes time."
