Lucas Vazquez rejects contract offer from Real Madrid

Lucas Vazquez has rejected a contract offer from Real Madrid.

Marca says Lucas, who has a proposal from Real Madrid, but hasn't been convinced.

At the start of the season, Lucas was a world away from staying at Real Madrid beyond this campaign, and wasn't even being thought about for a contract renewal. The youth graduate had lost prominence in the squad and during summer a possible departure gained traction, with an offer from Qatar on the table.

It was the confidence placed in him by coach Zinedine Zidane, and his desire to stay at Real Madrid, which has made it possible for Lucas to potentially remain at the club.

Injuries to Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola have also made it possible for Lucas to earn a place in the Real Madrid starting XI for the Clasico in November, and his performance stood out so much that it has been hard to keep him out of the team since.

This change has seen something of a metamorphosis as criticism turned into praise and the Real Madrid directors have taken notice with the offer of a contract renewal, which as yet, hasn't been accepted by the player.
