Rebekah Vardy's team has rubbished claims that Coleen Rooney has a "secret spy" in Rebekah's team which she is planning to use in court ahead of the Wagatha Christie showdown

Rebekah Vardy 's team have hit back at claims that Coleen Rooney has a "secret spy" who is close to the WAG to use in court ahead of the Wagatha Christie showdown.

Vardy, 38, has denied the reports claiming Coleen, 34, has a "mystery witness" in her camp who is willing to testify against her should their libel case end up in court.

The Sun claims that Coleen has got evidence and statements, as well as a secret witness, which all back up her claims that Vardy's Instagram account leaked information to the press about her.

Rebekah's legal team have shot down the claims, saying there can be no "secret witness" and have always strongly denied the claims that she or her Instagram account had anything to do with the leaks.

Her solicitor Charlotte Harris said: "There can be no ‘mystery witness' to something that did not happen.

"The simple fact is that Rebekah Vardy did not leak Coleen Rooney’s private Instagram posts and nothing can change that."

The WAGs have until February 8 to reach an out of court settlement before the showdown reaches a public five day legal battle.

This comes after Vardy won the first round of the libel case, after a High Court judge ruled that she had legitimate grounds to sue Rooney for defamation.

The battle, nicknamed Wagatha Christie, kicked off last October after Coleen publicly accused Vardy's Instagram account of selling stories on her to the press after leaving a bread crumb trail of fake stories on her own Instagram.

She claimed to have restricted the private Instagram to only be seen by Vardy's account.

Rebekah said in court documents that she had been left feeling suicidal after trolls targeted both her and her unborn child in a series of horrific posts.

In the first ruling Mr Justice Warby sided with Vardy's legal team that the post did directly point the finger at mum-of-five Becky personally – despite being signed off "It was... Rebekah Vardy's account".

Coleen's legal team had claimed her post showed "reasonable grounds" she had to suspect Becky's camp - which included other members of her team – used the Instagram account to leak stories to the press.

Mr Justice Warby said in his judgement: "I agree with the submissions for the claimant. The whole purpose of the post, on the face of it, is to identify publicly the someone, the person whom Ms Rooney has 'clearly' identified as being guilty of the serious and consistent breach of trust that she alleges.

"The ordinary reader would not regard the post as merely telling him or her who it is that Ms Rooney suspects, or as simply raising Ms Vardy’s guilt as no more than one possibility, among others.

Referring to Vardy's legal team headed up by Hugh Tomlinson QC, he added: "As Mr Tomlinson submits, the reader is told early on that Ms Rooney formed a suspicion; the rest of the post is telling the reader how she established the truth.

"And there is 'no hint' in the post that Ms Vardy’s account could be accessed or operated by anyone other than the named account holder."

Now Vardy's lawyers have rubbished the claims from The Sun which claim Coleen has a secret witness up her sleeve.

A source claimed: "Coleen is prepared for anything.

"She has loads of strong evidence, including statements, and is planning to call witnesses if this goes all the way to trial.

"Coleen also has a big reveal up her sleeve which she intends to use if this gets to court.

"Her team has an inside man who is willing to talk."
