Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left Sergio Romero out of his Premier League and Champions League squad with the goalkeeper into the final year of his contract

Sergio Romero reportedly wants Manchester United to allow him to leave for free in January.

Romero has been left out of the Red Devils’ Premier League and Champions League squads by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He was heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit in the summer with Everton having been keen on a move for the goalkeeper.

Though United did not allow him to leave and The Sun claim that Romero is now training alone in an attempt to push through a move.

It’s reported that the Argentine is hoping United will let him leave without a fee in January having become fourth-choice.

Romero is out of contract at the end of the season though his £100,000 per week wages are believed to be causing issues with potential moves.

Though The Sun add that Romero could give up his pay off to secure an exit and could leave United as soon as January.

Romero's wife, Eliana Guercio, hit out at United on deadline day and urged them to let the goalkeeper leave after supposedly blocking a move away.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "Sergio Romero worked hard for his club. Last trophy they won [the 2017 Europa League], they lifted it with him.

"He helped the team reach four finals / semi-finals and then he was left on the bench only to lose them all.

"It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE!"

United boss Solskjaer had said: “Sergio has just come back into training this week, so he’s started his pre-season work and is working to get to his peak fitness with the goalkeepers.”

David de Gea and Dean Henderson are ahead of the Argentine while Lee Grant has been picked as United’s third-choice keeper this season.
