Italy sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora has said Cristiano Ronaldo is being investigated for returning to the country having tested positive for coronavirus.
Ronaldo returned a positive test while on international duty for Portugal and was forced to miss the 3-0 Nations League win over Sweden.
The Juventus star went straight into self isolation though travelled back to his house in Italy via a private air ambulance.
Italy's sports minister Spadafora had been asked whether Ronaldo had broken coronavirus regulations and said on October 15: "Without authorisation from the health authorities, I think he has violated the protocol.”

And he has now said that Ronaldo is being investigated, telling Rai Tre: "Cristiano did not respect the protocol. There is an investigation by the Federal Prosecutor's Office to prove it.
"The virus has taught us that no one is exempt, obviously they are all people who have tried to respect the protocols as much as possible, but the only solution, in the end, is to stay at home."
Ronaldo has not featured on the pitch since his positive test and will have to pass a test 24 hours before the clash with Barcelona or else he will have to miss a reunion with Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo had defended the steps he'd taken to self-isolate in an Instagram post earlier this month, telling his followers: “I did not break any protocol.
“They’re saying that I broke Italian laws but it’s all a lie. I spoke with my team and we have the responsibility to do things right.
“Everything was done with authorisation. Principally for the Italian man whose name I’m not going to say, it’s a lie, I abided by all the protocols.”
