Manchester United star Juan Mata is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Red Devils this season, though has impressed in the two Carabao Cup clashes he has played

Manchester United star reportedly rejected a huge contract offer to join an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, opting instead to stay at Old Trafford.

Mata is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season but has shone in two Carabao Cup matches.

There appears to be plenty of players ahead of Mata in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield pecking order, including Paul Pogba, Fred, and summer signing Donny van de Beek.

Mata has won the man of the match awards in the League Cup victories over Luton and Brighton, scoring in both victories.

And though he is yet to feature in the Prem, Mata seems determined to stay at Old Trafford and win a trophy.

Spanish outlet AS claim a club from Saudi Arabia had offered the midfielder a highly lucrative opportunity to leave United.

It’s reported that an offer of €16m had been made before being increased to €20m (£18m) for Mata, who has just one year left on his Red Devils contract.

Though the Spaniard is reportedly insistent he will stay at United and force his way into Solskjaer’s regular line-up.

Mata also wants to win trophies at United having last tasted success by lifting the Europa League in 2017.

Solskjaer still sees Mata as an important part of his squad, saying after the Carabao Cup win over Brighton: "His composure and experience (is vital) for a young team.

"I think he created more or less every moment in this game that was of the highest quality in an attacking sense.

"He is a very valuable member of the squad and a top professional. It is never easy to tell him when he's not playing.

"He has had a fantastic career, he has won whatever there is to win more or less.

"He is an example for everyone to look at, how you conduct yourself and how you perform when you get the chance."
