Manchester City have embarrassingly had their official Twitter account suspended.
The account has 8.5m followers on the social media platform, but none can gain access all of a sudden.
Rival fans were quick to troll the club, who are often targeted for their seemingly limited supporter base compared to other elite teams in the top flight and empty seats at stadiums on matchdays, prior to the coronavirus crisis.
One Arsenal fan put: “Manchester City no longer exist, so I propose they automatically forfeit their next league game.”
While the real reason behind the suspension continues to be speculated over, it is another disaster for Pep Guardiola's team.
Manchester City's Twitter account is blocked and rival fans have bantered them
The Premier League giants have had a disappointing start to the 2020/21 season, having been thrashed 5-2 at home to Leicester less than a fortnight ago.
They followed that up with a 1-1 draw at Elland Road against newly-promoted Leeds United.
Meanwhile, they are having to contend with a very limited squad due to Covid-19 cases within the group and other injury woes.
With regards to their latest issue off the pitch, City are investigating the matter.
The Daily Mail claims it is a technical error from the social media platform's end and they are working on a fix.
It has also been confirmed that the Premier League club's account has not been hacked.
How long it will be, though, before they are back up and running remains to be seen.
City next play on Saturday, October 17 when Arsenal visit the Etihad, and that will see Mikel Arteta reunited with Guardiola.
