Arsenal announce double signing less than 24 hours after £45m Thomas Partey transfer

Arsenal have added two young players to their academy setup.

Arsenal have announced the signings of teenage duo Nikolaj Moller and Joel Ideho less than 24 hours after confirming the £45million arrival of midfielder Thomas Partey. Striker Moller joins from Swedish giants Malmo and winger Ideno arrives from Dutch side Ajax. Arsenal have confirmed that both players will link up with the club's "Professional Development Phase".

Moller, 18, is described by Arsenal as a "powerful striker and prolific goalscorer".

Moller started his youth career at Malmo before joining Italian side Bologna in 2018.

He was compared to Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time in Italy due to his ability on the ball despite his height.

Moller returned to Malmo in January 2020 before joining the Gunners this summer.

Meanwhile, Ideho, 17, is a winger "best known for his pace and accuracy".

The Dutchman spent time with the Tilburg Academy of Willem II before joining Ajax earlier this year.

Arsenal completed a deal for midfielder Partey just minutes before Monday's transfer deadline.

The 27-year-old had been targeted by the Gunners throughout the summer and they finally activated his £45m release clause.

Arsenal technical director believes Partey will be a great addition to Mikel Arteta's squad.

"Thomas has all the right attributes to be a top player for Arsenal," Edu said.

"He is a leader on and off the pitch and he is exactly the kind of player and person we want at the club. We already feel like we know Thomas very well based on the work we have done analysing his performances closely in recent times.

"With his all-round game and positive aggressive style, he will be a brilliant addition to our squad.

"We’ve made a strong start to the season and we want to continue to build on this with Thomas now part of our club.”

Arteta was equally delighted following news that Partey had completed his move to the Emirates.

“We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high quality player to our squad," Arteta said.

"He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years.

"We’re very impressed with his attitude and his approach to the game.

"He’s an intelligent footballer and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we’re building at the moment at the club.”
