Bradford midfielder Connor Shanks ruled out of Colchester clash

Bradford are set to be without Connor Shanks for the Sky Bet League Two opener against Colchester.

Midfielder Shanks picked up an unspecified knock during the midweek EFL Trophy tie at Doncaster.

Zeli Ismail is available again after the midfielder returned a negative Covid-19 test.

Midfielder Levi Sutton remains unavailable as he sees out a suspension carried over from last season.

Colchester will be missing Tom Lapslie and Diaz Wright for the trip to Valley Parade.

The midfielders are both continuing their recovery from knee problems, so are not available to new head coach Steve Ball.

On-loan Fulham forward Martel Taylor-Crossdale came off the bench in the midweek EFL Trophy game at Portsmouth so could be in contention for a league start.

Midfielder Luke Gambin had been away on international duty with Malta but also featured at Fratton Park and should be involved again.
