Manchester United have made a decision over their Benoit Badiashile transfer pursuit after their £22m bid was “rejected”.

The Red Devils saw their offer for the Monaco defender flat out rejected, with Nico Kovac wanting to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were leading the race for the Ligue 1 starlet, pushing ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea.

But the Mail have reported that this is the last straw for United as they will not pursue Badiashile anymore.

United are now not expected to make a follow-up bid after their failed £22m bid.

Badiashile has enjoyed a breakthrough into Monaco’s senior squad over the last two years, making 41 appearances for the Cote d’Azur side.

He arrived at the club’s academy in 2016, having started playing football eat French sides Limoges and SC Malesherbes.

The defender has represented his country from U16 to U19 level and is trying to break through to the international squad.

It comes as Solskjaer is also pursuing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly – but is facing a transfer battle with Manchester City for the 28-year-old’s signature, who have a plan for him.

“[Koulibaly is] one of those players who comes up time and again at this time of year, but never quite seems to get the move,” Transfer guru Alex Crook said on Wednesday’s White and Sawyer show.

“We know Manchester City are really keen, having already signed Nathan Ake, to get Koulibaly to the Etihad, and there could be some kind of part exchange in the offing.

“Eric Garcia is very much on Napoli’s list to replace Koulibaly – maybe he will welcome the move. He only played 13 games in the Premier League.

“Clearly Pep is looking to rejuvenate his back line and this could be a move which suits both parties.”

But Solskjaer has reignited his interest in Jack Grealish, with United and Aston Villa having talks this week over the midfielder.
