Earlier in the game, Carlos lunged in on Messi and scratched his right leg after catching him very high in a nasty-looking tackle.

In one picture taken during the game, the Barcelona star's sock immediately rips after being caught by the sharp stud.

Messi and Carlos then endured an on-running feud throughout the clash.

And after Carlos appeared to catch Messi's team-mate Luis Suarez, the Argentine finally snapped, racing over and pushing him to the ground.

The spat sparked handbags between the two sides on the stroke of half-time in a match which ended 0-0 - denting Barcelona's title hopes.

And now, Messi has been seen with a deep scrape down his leg in training following the feisty clash in the south of Spain and his Carlos battle.

After dropping points at Sevilla, Real Madrid now have the chance to draw level in the LaLiga standings.

Barcelona next take on Athletic Bilbao hoping to get back on track.

And Messi will have another personal goal in mind heading into the crucial clash.

The Barcelona legend has scored 699 career goals, with one more taking him to the staggering 700-mark.
