Manchester United are interested in signing Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are the latest big European club to add Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to their summer shopping list. The Nigerian International, 23, caught the attention of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain before the suspension of the Premier League.

The French champions’ interest has now cooled after they decided that they will look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield when the transfer window opens.

But now Manchester United are taking more than a passing interest in Ndidi who joined The Foxes from Belgium club Genk three years ago.

Ndidi replaced N’Golo Kante after he was sold to Chelsea has played a crucial role in the success that Leicester have enjoyed under Brendan Rodgers this season.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen the area of his squad this summer.

He is also interested in Bayern Munich’s French international Corentin Tolisso as well as Ajax’s highly-rated star Donny van de Beek.

Ajax chief executive and former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has confirmed that Solskjaer is interested along with Real Madrid.

He is likely to turn to Ndidi if he loses out to the Spanish giants in the race to land van de Beek, 23.

Youth team coach Ronald De Boer expects the 23-year-old to leave Ajax this summer and he reckons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may fancy taking the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

"When you hear these clubs pass by, I know your heart will beat faster," De Boer told FOX Sports.

"If Real Madrid again decide not to report themselves at Donny, then I can understand it if he decides to go to Manchester United instead.

"On the one hand, I understand that Real Madrid are hesitating a bit. Another club could think, ‘hey, an interesting player, maybe we can get him for a little less’. For example Manchester United.

"Solskjaer has indicated that he wants to go in a new direction and wants players who are humble, their heart is with the club, a team player.
