Arsene Wenger is not planning to replace outgoing Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick.

The Gunners announced in May that Sir Chips had retired after seven years at the helm of the club, having been a member of the board since way back in 2005.

That news saw Wenger linked with an emotional return to the club he guided to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups between 1996 and 2018.

However, the 70-year-old only recently took up a position as chief of global football development with Fifa, and has made his stance over the Emirates role clear in a recent interview.

He told beIN SPORTS when asked about the view of supporters: “The candidate says there is no candidate.”

The exit of lifelong fan Sir Chips was announced by Stan and Josh Kroenke earlier in the year, who have not yet mentioned plans for a successor.

Their statement reads: “We would like to express our immense gratitude for everything Sir Chips has done for Arsenal Football Club as a board member and chairman of the board over the past 15 years.

"His extensive business knowledge and experience coupled with his deep love of Arsenal have made him the perfect chairman.

“It has been a privilege to work with him and he will always be a very welcome visitor when we return to playing matches at Emirates Stadium.”

Wenger said in May that his exit from Arsenal was for good, suggesting that we would not even return as a spectator.

He said: “Would I return to the Emirates Stadium? I always said to myself that I would be leaving Arsenal completely. That's the decision I made.”
