Bundesliga games could be aired at 3pm Saturday after law change

BT Sport might be able to air Saturday Bundesliga games during the previously banned time of 2:45pm and 5:15pm - should they receive permission from the Football Association after UEFA’s recent ruling

Bundesliga games could be aired on Saturday afternoons should they be given permission from the FA.

The blanket ban on fixtures being televised between 2:45pm and 5:15pm on the first day of the weekend was recently lifted at the request of the governing body in England and Scotland.

The updated regulation reads: “Taking into account the current exceptional circumstances, Uefa has lifted the ‘blocked hours’ protection granted to the England and Scotland for the remainder of the 2019-20 football season."

Before adding that it was: “Following requests from the relevant national associations as a result of measures taken in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

That could give BT Sport the freedom to show Bundesliga games at peak time should they be allowed to do so by the FA.

They said over the upcoming fixtures on their official website: “BT Sport has exclusive rights in the UK to show live Bundesliga matches.

"Monthly packages for the channels are available for football fans who have been starved of action and do not have a subscription.”

Aleksander Ceferin, President of UEFA, welcomed the return of football in Germany earlier today, stating it as a positive step for sports fans around the world.

He said: “It is great news that the German authorities have agreed that the Bundesliga can return.

"This is a huge and positive step to bringing optimism back to people’s lives.

"It is the result of constructive dialogue and careful planning between the football authorities and politicians and I am confident that Germany will provide a shining example to all of us in how to bring football - with all its excitement, emotion and unpredictability- back into our lives.

"I wish everyone connected with this every success.”

As of Thursday there has been no official update on the return of Premier League football, with clubs and players feeling apprehensive over when, where and how fixtures will take place.
