Carles Alena's uncertain future

Carles Alena is one of many Barcelona players who do not know where they will be playing their football next season.

The midfielder, who is currently on loan at Real Betis, is wanted by several teams, including Inter, but neither he nor the club have made a decision about his future.

The Nerazzurri have considered Alena as a potential piece that could be included if Lautaro Martinez is to go the other way to the Camp Nou, with Barcelona currently reluctant to pay the Argentine's 111 million euro release clause.

In order for Barcelona to try and reduce this figure, the Catalans have told Inter that they can have their pick of players, aside from those that are regarded as non-transferable, such as Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Arthur Melo.

This has led to two more attainable names being mentioned: Nelson Semedo and Alena.

However, Barcelona have not yet told Alena what their plans are for him moving forward, while the midfielder himself has always said that it is his dream to succeed at the Camp Nou.

Betis, meanwhile, have been very happy with his performances since joining in January and have not ruled out trying to secure another loan deal.

It is worth noting that Los Verdiblancos do not have an option to buy with Alena, as neither he nor Barcelona wanted to risk him departing too early. His contract runs until June 30, 2022

Alena has been regarded as one of La Masia's great hopes for many years but his future at Barcelona remains still unclear, while his contract comes to an end on June 30, 2022.

So far this season, the 22-year-old has played 15 games in all competitions: five for Barcelona, 10 for Betis.
