Paul Pogba donned his old Juventus kit for a training session at home, leaving Manchester United fans unhappy at first before the midfielder explained it was a message of support for Blaise Matuidi
Paul Pogba surprised Manchester United fans by wearing a Juventus kit for a training session - but the Frenchman explained it was a brilliant message of support for Blaise Matuidi.
The midfielder has been out injured from the Red Devils side since the end of December.
It has not stopped the Frenchman hitting headlines, though, with his future at the club in doubt.
And footage has emerged of Pogba taking on a training session – but not in his usual training gear.
The 27-year-old can be seen running around a training room in his house while wearing a brace on his knee.
Paul Pogba wore a Juventus kit for a training session – but had a brilliant reason
He sprints around before kicking a ball onto the wall, filmed for the workout by team-mate Victor Linelof.
But the midfielder is wearing a shirt of Juventus, where he spent four seasons between periods at Old Trafford.
Pogba, though, explains the brilliant reason for his choice of shirt.
"New training camp is called… Quarantine PP Arena, open 24/7,” he said.
The United midfielder re-joined the club from the Italian side
"Supporting our friends Blaise Matuidi, Albin Ekdal and all athletes and people around the world.
"Be strong, #StayAtHome and be safe.”
The Juventus midfielder tested positive for coronavirus earlier today as well as the Norwegian player for Sampdoria.
And he decided to wear the kit of his former team for a training session amid rumours of his future
And the World Cup winner responded to his international team-mate in the Instagram comments.
"And I’m glad to see you touch the ball.” Matuidi replied.
Pogba, though, also had a message for fans of the rumour mill about his future.
"I know the cheeky ones will talk about the Juventus jersey,” the midfielder said.
"I’m just supporting my friends – that’s all, nothing more.”
But some of the United faithful were left unimpressed with the 27-year-old’s gesture.

"Training in a Juventus kit, for f***s sake,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “That jersey’s going to cause some trouble.”
While a third simply added: “Pogba out.”
Pogba has been at the forefront of sporting stars in their statements about COVID-19 since the disease shut down the majority of sporting events.
And he shared some bizarre advice on Instagram last week, urging fans to “dab” away coronavirus.
