Dino Maamria accuses Oldham of being fair weather team

Oldham boss Dino Maamria accused his side of being a fair weather team after they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Crawley seven days after thrashing Newport 5-0 at home.
Goals from Ricardo German, Ashley Nadesan and a late penalty from Bez Lubala leave the Latics without an away win since Boxing Day.
Maamria was dismayed that the Crawley goals came on the counter and his men did not score while on top during the first half.
He said: “We played brilliant football in the first half but didn’t hurt them. We are a fair weather team and I’ve got to rectify that.
“Crawley are very strong at home, being unbeaten since November, and we knew they would be a threat on the counter, but we conceded three goals that way.”
Maamria felt the Latics should have scored two or three goals in the first half and badly needed to score when they were on top.
He added: “We are not the finished article; when things are not right you need to respond. The second half was nowhere near the level we should be.”
Crawley head coach John Yems believes his men are “growing up as a team” after extending their fine unbeaten home run to eight games.
The Reds have only lost three of 18 matches since Yems replaced Gabriele Cioffi in early December and are 10 points off a play-off position.
He said:” Everyone wants to play for the shirt and if you have got that front to back then you’ve got a chance.
“We’ve had confidence all season and we have grown up as a team.”
Yems, who has created a hard-to-beat philosophy, is delighted the players are buying into what he is trying to build.
He added: “The lads are having a go for you, let’s hope it carries on.
“We had a disrupted week with injuries and illness, but the lads put everything they could into it.
“It is a credit to the players; they are buying into it. Our philosophy is that if you have the shirt it is yours to keep.”
