Fleetwood held by Neil Critchley’s Blackpool

Neil Critchley’s reign as Blackpool manager began with a goalless draw away to Fylde coast neighbours Fleetwood, whose unbeaten run extended to 11 games.
Blackpool dominated the first period and Matty Virtue twice went close in the early stages, seeing an effort well saved by Alex Cairns and then driving a shot just off target.
In the 10th minute Gary Madine teed up Connor Ronan and he smashed a 25-yard half-volley just over the top.
Madine glanced a header narrowly wide as he stooped to meet Liam Feeney’s cross and Nathan Delfouneso ought to have struck when he sidefooted over from 10 yards.
Fleetwood improved after the restart and Paddy Madden headed Lewie Coyle’s smart cross narrowly wide.
Substitute Ched Evans then met Madden’s lay-off only to drag a shot well wide.
Blackpool sub Joe Nuttall headed over from close range late on as he connected with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s corner.
