Everton have this evening confirmed that Mason Holgate has put pen-to-paper on a new deal, set to keep the stopper at the club until 2025.
Everton stint
Holgate, a 23-year-old defender who generally lines out at centre-half, made the move to Goodison Park from boyhood club Barnsley in 2015.
The no-nonsense Englishman's Toffees career, though, has since proven largely hit-and-miss.
After floating in and out of the first-team picture at Goodison over the course of his first couple of seasons in an Everton jersey, Holgate was eventually farmed out on loan to West Brom last January, having been afforded minimal game-time by then-manager Marco Silva.
Holgate subsequently went on to impress with the Baggies, though, a spell of form which saw him rewarded with another chance back on Merseyside this season.
And to say that the English youth international has since gone on to take full advantage of this opportunity would be putting it lightly.
Holgate has established himself as an absolutely crucial member of Everton's backline of late, particularly since Carlo Ancelotti's appointment.
In fact, so impressive has the 23-year-old looked over recent months, that he was even named as a prime summer target of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
Holgate staying put
As per the aforementioned announcement tonight, though, Everton have moved to swiftly put an end to any and all speculation surrounding their key stopper.
As confirmed across the Toffees' social media platforms a short time ago, Holgate has committed his future to the club, by putting pen-to-paper on a new contract.
The deal, as showcased below, has seen Holgate tied down until the summer of 2025.
