Nicky Featherstone scored a second-half brace as Hartlepool claimed a 2-0 Vanarama National League victory over Notts County at Victoria Park.
Gime Toure had an early chance for the hosts saved well in the opening exchanges before Ryan Donaldson fired the rebound over the crossbar.
On-loan Burnley striker Rob Harker’s header was also kept out by Notts County goalkeeper Joe McDonnell midway through the first half as Hartlepool continued to press for an opener.
At the other end, Kyle Wootton came close for the Magpies but he blasted the ball over just before the half-hour mark and his header from Callum Roberts’ corner 12 minutes before the break soared off target – not helped by the conditions.
Pools took the lead at the beginning of the second half as Featherstone’s long-range cross found the back of the net.
The former Hull youth player completed his double just before the hour mark as he fired his free-kick into the far corner as Hartlepool recorded their second-straight win to move up to 11th.
