Walsall expect to be without Rory Gaffney when they host Port Vale in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.
Gaffney has been out injured since January when he last played for the Saddlers.
Manager Darrell Clarke admitted Stuart Sinclair needs more minutes and fitness work before he can play a full 90 minutes.
Danny Guthrie has also struggled with his fitness levels, but he is expected to feature in the squad, although he is likely to start on the bench.
Port Vale will have Tom Pope back from suspension for their trip to Walsall.
Pope missed the game against Colchester with a one-match ban after picking up two yellow cards against Forest Green.
The Valiants will continue to be without Mitch Clark.
The defender, on loan from Leicester, will serve the second of a three-game ban following his straight red card at Forest Green.
