Manchester United fans took to social media to slam chief Ed Woodward.
Manchester United fans took to social media to slam chief Ed Woodward for missing out on Erling Haaland after the striker netted a brace for Borussia Dortmund. The 19-year-old was tipped to head to Old Trafford in the January transfer window. However, the Norwegian ended up snubbing a move to United and signing for Dortmund instead.
Haaland, who has been sensation for the Bundesliga giants, netted twice against PSG in their Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday night.
The forward has now netted 11 goals in all competitions for the German side.
And United fans were left fuming with Ed Woodward for missing out on Haaland in January after his goals against PSG.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Ed Woodward not getting Haaland to sign for us becoming worse and worse with every passing minute of football he plays.”
Another agreed: “Haaland with another goal. Thank you Solskjaer and Woodward.”
“Haaland is a f**king monster! I can’t describe my hate for Woodward man,” a fellow United fan fumed.
Another wrote on Twitter: “Olé and Ed Woodward ... I’ll never forgive y’all for Haaland.”
“Everytime Haaland scores i get freshly p***ed at Ed Woodward,” a fellow United fan said.
Reports this week claimed Haaland agreed to join United before he opted to head to Dortmund.
Haaland reportedly told Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on December 13 he would join.
The United pair flew to Salzburg to hold transfer talks with the striker and left happy.
However, Haaland changed his mind and ended up at Dortmund, with United unable to offer him Champions League football.
United boss Solskjaer says the Red Devils are now in the hunt for a Champions League spot after their 2-0 win at Chelsea on Monday night.
"We keep another clean sheet, four on the bounce now, we're getting better defensively," he told Sky Sports.
"Two very good goals, very happy with them. I think we were a bit leggy, sometimes it takes time to blow the cobwebs out, but it was better second half, we looked a bit cumbersome first half.
"Some good individual performances at times, but in the first half we were too negative, played it back too many times and made technical errors we don't normally.
"The goal was fantastic. Aaron has been working on his crossing, Anthony has been told X amount of times to get into the box - we had almost like an ongoing joke with Harry and his headers, it was about time!
"You want the right decisions to be made and we're happy they are made. They weren't made without that help, and it's been shown a few times this year we've needed that help.
"I think it looks like a push on Fred, and Harry, when he was pulled over, I wouldn't think that's a red card. I think he's just protecting himself with the lad over him.
"It gives us confidence and a chance [of finishing in the top four], it's going to be a tight race, we're not going to get any help from anyone - we're playing tonight and we're playing on Thursday.
"I cannot understand for the life of me why we didn't play on Saturday. But we'll just have to dust ourselves down and get going again."
